Board of Directors

VACA's board of directors is made up of a variety of community members bringing
to our organization their diversity in knowledge and expertise. They are all Vietnamese refugees and immigrants and as such, are keenly aware of issues that are of concern to our constituency.

Board of Directors 2009 - present

Mr. Hiep Nguyen, President - Mr. Nguyen was recently elected as the President of the Board as of November 2008. Mr. Nguyen is a certified public accountant (CPA). Mr. Nguyen earned a Bachelor’s in Accountancy and a Master’s in Taxation from Bentley College. He then went on to become a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Liem Tran, Vice-President/Treasury - Mr. Tran is Vice President of the Board. Mr. Tran has over fifteen years of experiences in Workforce Development and non-profits management. Liem began his career in youth development, adult education and workforce training through Jobs For Youth, STRIVE-BES, Boston Private Industry Council, and Asian American Civic Association. Liem had extensive network of many industries including Financial Services, Health-Care, Insurance, Hi-Tech and Constructions. Liem is now working for Wentworth Institute of Technology/The Arioch Center as the Director of Educational Outreach. Liem is currently a Chairman of the board of MAP for Health, and a board member of Brook Farm Academy, along with a few other fundraising committees. Liem holds a BS in Chemistry & Business from Suffolk University and is a 2006 graduate of Emerging Leaders Program from UMASS Boston."

Board Members

An LeDang - Mr. LeDang is the immediate former President of the Board. He is a business owner who is active in the Vietnamese community. He is the President of the Vietnamese Catholic Community, a member of the Vietnamese Small Business Association and a co-founder and member of the Vietnamese Veterans Association of Boston.

Kevin T. Tai - Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial, volunteer mentor for Everybody Wins Metro Boston Power Lunch Program, member of the Quincy Lions.

Tam Ngo - Ms. Ngo works at Sovereign Bank as a Marketing and Sales Analyst. She also plans events for and is a co-founding member of the Boston chapter of Notre Dame Women Connect.

Lieu Nguyen - Ms. Nguyen works at Boston Police Department as the Vietnamese Youth Liaison. She works with Vietnamese youth and families. She also works closely with several Boston public schools with large number of Vietnamese students to provide support for students and parents. She is part of the school roundtable and students support team at the Harbor Middle School.

Dongsup Samuel Kim - Business and legal advisor and leader to not-for-profit and social returns focused for-profit organizations; Interim Senior Program Director of the Emmanuel Gospel Center; Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Asian American Professionals - Boston; Board Member of the Asian Community Development Corporation.

Mr. Hanh Vinh Tran, Past President -- Senior Service Advocate for the Office of Multicultural Affairs/Department of Mental Health. Co-founder and Vice President of the Vietnamese Veterans Association of Boston. Former board member of Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) and Massachusetts Association for Mental Health.

Mr. Quoc Tran, Esq. President – Executive Director of Cambridge Human Rights Commission, City of Cambridge.

Mr. Binh Thanh Nguyen, Acting Treasurer – Senior Social Worker for the Department of Transitional Assistance. Co-founder of VACA. Former General Secretary and Vice-President of the Vietnamese Immigration Community of Massachusetts. Board member of Dorchester House. Former advisor for the Vietnamese Boy & Girl Scouts/Bach Dang Troop of Boston.

Mr. Cang Van Tran – Advisory member of the Charity Support Group of the Political Detainees.

Mr. Duong B. Nguyen – Agent, New York Life Insurance Company. Former Executive Director of the Vietnamese-American Civic Association (1987 – 1989). Volunteer and Advisor for the Vietnamese Boy & Girl Scouts/Bach Dang Troop of Boston.

Mr. Xuong T. Mao – Owner of China Golden Restaurant in Raynham. Former Job Developer of the Vietnamese-American Civic Association.
